Set in the heart of the Montaña Palentina nature reserve, this former monastery now provides an atmospheric, luxury location for your visit to Mount Cildá and the province of Palencia.
El Convento de Santa Maria de Mave was originally built on the Cildá hillside in the 12th century. Today the historic structure of the convent remains, with its charming cloisters, whilst the building's services and facilities have been updated to ensure a comfortable stay. Each unique room includes enchanting features such as original stone arches, 4-poster beds, wood panelling and antique furnishings.
The hotel lies in a wonderful natural setting, 400 metres above the valley's river. It provides the ideal location to visit the ancient nearby towns of Mave, Cervera de Pisuerga and Aguilar de Campo.
The hotel site is an attraction in itself. It features a Burgundy-style church, a beautiful Romanesque porch and a Neo-classical cloister built in the 1600s. The vaulted naves include wall paintings dating back to the 15th century.
Each room is set in the former chambers of the monks who once inhabited the monastery. Many period features are still obvious, adding to the property's charm.
